2020 Homecoming events to be held virtually

Kent State’s 2020 Homecoming is shaping up to be a little different this year.

Beloved events such as the Kiss on the K and the Bowman Cup 5K will be joined by new events in an online platform.

According to the Kent State website, participating in events can be as simple as posting photos to social media with #KentHC.

Executive Director of Events and Protocol Lashonda Taylor said community members will be able to use any social media account to post the photos.

Voting for the Homecoming Court will open on the Homecoming page of the Kent State website on Oct. 5 and a livestream will be held to announce the Homecoming Court on Oct. 9.

Bowman Cup 5K participants will be able to run or walk the course all week and turn in their times online. Registration can be done here where there will be more information on the event. Students can register for $15.

Homecoming will kick off on Monday, Oct. 5 with Memories Monday and will end on Saturday, Oct. 10 with the Flash Nation Tailgate at home.

A list of all Homecoming events and how to participate is on the Kent State website

SUPPORT STUDENT MEDIA

Hi, I’m Lauren Sasala, a senior journalism student from Toledo. I’m also the editor in chief of The Kent Stater and KentWired this semester. My staff and I are committed to bringing you the most important news about Kent State and the Kent community. We are full-time students and hard-working journalists. While we get support from the student media fee and earned revenue such as advertising, both of those continue to decline. Your generous gift of any amount will help enhance our student experience as we grow into working professionals. Please go here to donate.
