Kent State University basketball player Randal Holt was cited for possession of marijuana Monday, a minor misdemeanor.

According to a KSU Police Department spokesperson, an officer performing a routine traffic stop found Holt to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana in a “clear plastic baggie.”

The officer stopped Holt on Midway Drive near the Kent Student Center according to Portage County court records.

Assistant Athletic Director Alan Ashby said neither the team nor the department has taken any disciplinary action against Holt yet.

“We were made aware of the situation (Monday) night,” Ashby said. “We are currently reviewing all the facts and will act appropriately when we have all the information we need.”

According to court records, Holt is scheduled to be arraigned at Portage County Municipal Court in Kent on Thursday.

Holt, a guard entering his junior year at KSU, averaged nearly 10 points per game in his sophomore season.
