Alternative energy sources

Too much homework and not enough energy?

Here are six ways to wake up:

1. Put down your coffee. Grab some water. When you’re dehydrated, you feel fatigued. Less oxygen is going through your bloodstream when you don’t hydrate. Feeling sleepy? Chug some h2o.

2. Laugh. Everyone feels better after a good laugh. That’s because you release endorphins when you’re having a good time. Check out Failblog.org or Lamebook.com if you need some motivation.

3. Smell something refreshing. Try cutting up an orange or making some peppermint tea. These scents can make you feel more awake.

4. Move around. Of course an intense exercise can give you a boost, but you can also do something less drastic. Try jumping jacks, stretching or marching in place. Sure, your roommate may laugh, but at least you’ll both feel more awake.

5. Take a power nap. Set your alarm for 20 minutes and close your eyes. You’ll be surprised how much better you feel.

6. Start using multivitamins. The more stressed you are, the more B vitamins you need. The added vitamin C will help to prevent colds, too.
