Kent State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Sunday.

A Kent State student reported being robbed at knifepoint by two white males in the R6 Eastway lot behind the library. Each suspect was wearing a dark knit cap pulled down over his hair and neck.

The first suspect was described as being approximately 5 feet 11 inches or taller and was wearing a red puffy coat, dark knit gloves and dark pants and shoes.

The second suspect was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches and was wearing a dark gray ski coat, dark cloth gloves and dark pants and shoes.

The alert said the suspects ran from the library toward the health center. No one was injured in the incident.

Michquel Penn, a Kent State police officer, said students should be aware of their surroundings.

“Although campus is pretty well lit, if you’re off campus, avoid walking in dim lit areas in which your view is obstructed, such as tall hedges, near buildings, cars, etcetera – anything that an assailant can hide behind,” Penn said.

Penn said she recommends students take advantage of the escort service, which has extended its hours from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Kent State University Police at 330-672-3070.

Update: Campus escort hours extended

Kent State is extending the hours of its Security Escort Service in wake of last night’s robbery on campus, according to Emily Vincent, director of University Media Relations.

Students and faculty will be able to call 330-672-7004 to get an escort between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m., seven days a week. The extended hours will go until spring break.
