The University Research Council is now accepting nominations for the 2011 Distinguished Scholar Award, an annual series of three $1,500 prizes that honor professors with outstanding research and creative projects.

In order to receive a nomination, a professor must have five years of full-time employment at Kent State. Only tenured and emeritus faculty may nominate, and each person can submit only one nomination per year. The council also permits self-nominations.

After the Feb. 15 nomination deadline, the council will contact all nominees to gather further information about their work. Winners will receive their awards during the April 15 Celebration of Scholarship.

The online nomination forms are linked to the council’s website.
