Thunderstruck, an AC/DC cover band, and Stranglehold, a Ted Nugent cover band, will land at the Kent Stage Friday. Tom Simpson, director of the Kent Stage, said he’s seen and met Thunderstruck before.

“They played at Rockin’ on the River, and that’s how I know them,” Simpson said. “We’re excited to have them here.”

Simpson said it’s the closest you can be next to Angus and Nugent.

“The Ted Nugent guy is going to be phenomenal,” he said.

Thunderstruck was formed in 2005. The band consists of five members, three of which were from other AC/DC tribute bands. The lead guitar player, Ricky “Young Angus” Miller, is the star of the show and is an Angus Young impersonator.

Stranglehold is a high-energy band, and they call themselves “as close as you can get to a Ted Nugent concert.” There are three members in the band all from Mansfield.

Ronnie, the singer of Stranglehold, has the look and sound of Ted Nugent. He has been playing Ted Nugent songs since they came out. He plays the songs on a 1968 Gibson Byrdland hollow-body guitar.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and general admission is $13.
