Christmas tree sales are in full bloom now.

There is only one Christmas tree farm in the city of Kent.

SOT (Flower): SALES HAVE BEEN VERY GOOD. THE WEATHER HAS BEEN GOOD. TODAY’S THE FIRST DAY WE’VE HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT SNOW, BUT THAT KIND OF PUTS PEOPLE IN THE MOOD.

Flower Family Christmas Tree Farm has been around since 1980 though they didn’t start selling trees until 1990 because it takes about ten years to grow.

Some customers have been coming back for years.

SOT(Stone): I LIKE HIS CHRISTMAS TREES AND I JUST LIKE TO KEEP THE BUSINESS LOCAL AND BUY FROM FRIENDS.

It used to be the cost of trees came from the size, but Flower Family Farm has changed that.

The cost of trees now comes from the type and the price is the same whether it’s small or tall.

They changed that to help the customers with the bad economy.

Only live trees are sold here.

Walmart and Target are places to get artificial ones with prices ranging from $20-$100.

Costs of trees at Flower Family Farm are $25, $40 or $60.

STANDUP: EVEN WITH THE BAD ECONOMY, PEOPLE ARE STILL BUYING CHRISTMAS TREES. THIS PLACE’S BUSINESS HAS SEEN A SLIGHT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. FOR TV2 NEWS, I’M SPENSER ETZEL.
