Over the last decade we have watched them grow, watched them learn, watched them fall in love and watched the magic that makes the Harry Potter series one of the best that has ever been.

This Friday, we witness the beginning of the final confrontation between He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and The Boy Who Lived.

The film is an emotional trek across England’s countryside as Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ronald Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) attempt to evade Lord Voldemort. There are a few familiar faces returning to this installment as well as a few new faces, such as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour (Bill Nighy).

The biggest question before going into the film would be, “Where are they going to cut it?” because “The Deathly Hallows” is a two-part film; the second half is to be released this summer.

I am happy to report that the cut happens at an incredibly appropriate time, and I couldn’t agree with the filmmakers more about where they cut it. It ends on a very intense emotional note along with the looming darkness that will lead nicely into the second film.

I can’t say that this is the best Potter film to date simply because it was only half the book. Perhaps, in conjunction with Part Two, I might be able to change my mind.

I will say that I have never wanted to see a next installment so much in my life. I would highly recommend seeing the first six films before attending, and if you’re not a fan of fantasy or magic then don’t waste your time or money.

If, like most people, you are a fan of the series or of fantasy in general, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One” is sure to provide a magically emotional experience.
