Republican Rob Portman was the projected winner of the 2010 Ohio Senate race. MUST RESTATE U.S. SENATE RACE.

Portman had 54.45 percent of the votes to Democrat Lee Fisher’s 37.80 percent with 87.5 percent of votes counted statewide.

Portman told voters during his campaign for the U.S. Senate, he plans to support Ohio workers, help small businesses be more successful and strengthen the environment for job creation. He also plans to reform financial regulations, help the economy by reducing deficit and get involved in economic development.

U.S. House District 17

Democratic Rep. Timothy Ryan was re-elected to his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives with 55 percent of the vote with about 80 percent of the precincts reporting. Republican Jim Graham and Independent James Traficant Jr. trailed.

Ryan recently helped the city of Kent receive a highly competitive $20 million-grant NO HYPHEN HERE, RYAN

for the Multimodal Transportation Center from the Department of Transportation.

Ryan had 47.67 percent of the votes to Graham 40.82 percent. 96 precincts out of 105 had reported.

Ohio House District 43

In Ohio House District 43, Republican Todd McKenney upset incumbent Democrat Stephen Dyer with 55 percent of the vote with 88 percent of precincts reporting. Dyer had served two terms in the House and is a Kent State graduate in journalism and mass communication.

Portage County Commissioners

At deadline the Portage County Board of Elections had reported less than 8 percent of precincts counted.
