Death of Kent man still under investigation
November 14, 2010
A Kent man found dead along the Wheeling and Erie Railroad tracks near West Main Street Wednesday morning was not hit by a train as authorities initially thought.
“It didn’t appear that he had any injuries or that he was harmed by anyone else,” said Thomas Decker, chief investigator for the Portage County Coroner.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, a pedestrian discovered the body of Scott D. Vaughn by the tracks just north of the 800 block of West Main Street and called police. ??
Vaughn was 47 and lived about a block away from where his body was found on West Main Street.
A Kent police dispatcher would not comment about whether or not there were any indications of foul play and said the cause of death is still under investigation.
