A Dodge Caravan caught fire at the corner of West Main Street and Longmere Drive near Klaben Auto Group and AWTI Transmissions Monday afternoon.

“I heard a pop and saw flames,” said the driver of the car, Larry Shepherd.

Shepherd said he was on his way home when he stopped at a red light. It was then that he heard the sound and saw flames on the driver’s side of his van.

Kent Police Lt. Jayme Cole said they received a call at 3:43 p.m., and the police and fire department arrived within minutes.

Shepherd reported no injuries.
