School of Art Gallery
Location: Art Building
Open: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cost: free
The gallery displays the work of both Kent State graduate and undergraduate students from the School of Art. It is currently housing the Student Annual Display, which consists of all disciplines that have been judged for a best in show award. The gallery will be showing graduate thesis work after spring break.
Michener Gallery
Location: Library second floor
Open: Regular library hours
Cost: free
This gallery highlights work from the School of Art’s extensive collection. The current display is a series of lithographs by Ben Shahn.
Student Galleries
Painting: Art Building third floor
Sculpture: Art Building first floor
Open: specific hours arranged by students, which are typically Friday nights.
Cost: free
These galleries showcase senior art of students working on their master’s or bachelor’s of Fine Arts. Displays change weekly. This Friday, a graduate student will be holding an open house for review of their paintings in the third floor gallery. There currently is no display in the sculpture gallery.

Downtown Gallery

Location: 141 East Main St.
Open: Wednesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cost: free
The Downtown Gallery displays local, national and student work. The current display is the 10th Annual National Juried Cup Show. It is a national juried exhibition, which consists of both functional and non-functional cups created from at least 50 percent ceramic.
FJ Kluth Art Gallery
Location: 300 N. Water St.
Open: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 2 to 6 p.m.
Cost: free
This gallery houses the personal collection of Frederick Kluth as well as a current display of his own drawings, “Environmental Fantasy.” The Chinese acrylic on paper drawings depict images that Kluth said will be interesting to the people of Kent. He is also accepting one-day student exhibits on the same topic.
McKay Bricker Gallery
Location: 141 E. Main St.
Open: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cost: free
This non-traditional gallery focuses on local art. They are displaying custom-framed mirrors, jewelry and high quality giclées. An upcoming show in April will feature six photographers. There will be an opening for the photographers on May 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Standing Rock
Location: 257 N. Water St.
Open: Thursday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Don Drumm Studios and Gallery
Location: 437 Crouse St. Akron
Open: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cost: free
Don Drumm Studios and Gallery consists of several buildings displaying the works of more than five hundred artists. Art forms on display include glass, ceramics, metal work, pottery and more. The cast aluminum and cast pewter works of Don Drumm, the resident artist, are always on display. The gallery will be holding a “Spring show” April 24 to display the works of staff artists and to give demonstrations of their crafts.
Akron Art Museum
Location: One South High, Akron
Open: Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost: Students with valid ID, $5 ; Adults, $7
This museum has two current exhibitions: “Pattern ID” and “Looking for the American Dream.” Pattern ID shows the use of patterns and clothing to communicate identification information. Looking for the American Dream is a collection of Andrew Borowiec’s photographs of Ohio.
