Poetry showcased today

An all-day showcase of outstanding undergraduate women poets is taking place today in the Women’s Resource Center as a part of Women’s History Month.

“It’s about celebrating Women’s History Month by celebrating creativity in the arts and showcasing undergraduate creativity,” said professor Katherine Blackbird, who is also the facilitator of the event. “This is an opportunity to hear some of the really strong undergraduate poets.”

Throughout the day, 10 students will be taking shifts reading their own work and from a favorite poet who inspired them. Blackbird said there would also be time for discussion and students will be able to ask fellow students about creativity and how poetry and creative writing plays a part in all of our lives.

The following is a schedule of events:

• 9:15 a.m. Anna Ciferno, Gabriella Ciofani, Courtney Cook,

• 11:00 a.m. Alyssa Davis, Erin Miller, Brianna Ries, Natasha Rodriguez
