Kent State’s site of May 4 is one step closer to becoming an official national landmark.

The Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board has given initial approval to the nomination of the site.

“The yes on the National Register vote was resounding,” said Laura Davis, professor in health and human services, who attended the hearing this morning in Columbus.

The nomination for the 17-acre site must now go to Ohio’s state preservation officer before being passed to the National Park Service for final consideration.
