Two of the four men charged in connection with robbing a Kent State student Nov. 22 were indicted on charges of robbery, a second-degree felony, and receiving stolen property.

On Dec. 7, Mykel B. Benson, 18, of Cleveland and Jose F. Lino, 18, of Akron were each charged with robbery and fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property in the Portage County Common Pleas Court in Ravenna.

Benson’s bond was set at $100,000, and a jury trial was set for Feb. 9.

Lino’s arraignment was set to continue at 8:45 this morning.

The indictments allege that Benson and Lino robbed a student after 3 a.m. Nov. 22 north of the Art Building and used his FlashCard to buy food at Rosie’s Café.

The third man charged in the robbery is Daejshon D. Norton, 18, of Erie, Pa. He remains jailed on $100,000 bond.

The fourth man is a 17-year-old juvenile from Highland Hills and is not a Kent State student.

The two victims from the robbery were treated for minor injuries and provided descriptions of the four suspects.

Kent State police identified the four suspects and made arrests in connection with the robbery after receiving a tip from a student and using campus surveillance systems.
