The Kent Political Union is hosting a “Right vs. Left” debate tonight at 7 p.m. in the Kiva.

Two panels, representing the political left and right, will debate six topics: health care, cap-and-trade, Afghanistan, the economy, unemployment and the stimulus bill, gay marriage and the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and a dual-state solution for Israel and Palestine. KPU adviser Richard Stanislaw, a political science professor, will moderate the debate.

“It’s not a Democrat vs. Republican debate,” said KPU president Steven Scerbovsky. He said members of Young Americans for Liberty and PRIDE!Kent are expected to attend, as well as College Republicans and College Democrats.

An audience Q and A will follow the debate.
