Basketball: Making the grade
November 9, 2009
Our sports staff rates this season’s team
The Kent State men’s basketball team learned a lot last season. They learned replacing outgoing seniors – namely Mike Scott and Haminn “Q” Quaintance – is never easy. They learned three guards can’t always carry an offense. They learned 20 wins aren’t always guaranteed. If the Flashes want to finish top in their class this season, they’ll have to make the grade. So take a seat and quiet down, because Professor Geno Ford is now speaking.
Coach’s overall grade: Incomplete
Potentially, it can be a very good team. We have not proven anything at this stage. There are some obvious question marks in terms of chemistry and how things are going to fit together. Ultimately, how many games you’re going to win will determine your overall grade.
Daily Kent Stater’s overall grade: B+
This team is hungry. After failing to win 20 games last season, we think they’re going to come back with force and get back to being the team it should be.
