Event incorporates more entertainment

The 28th Annual Black Squirrel Festival begins at 8 a.m. today on Risman Plaza.

Programming includes performances by local bands Foxxhunt and The Breaks.

Events will include much more than music, said Jennifer Gunnoe, Kent Student Center Programming marketing coordinator.

“We’re trying to branch out this year to incorporate different types of entertainment,” Gunnoe said.

The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will sponsor a tug of war match on Manchester Field. Students will also have an opportunity to participate in a Laser tag match on the field.

Dance teams will compete at 4 p.m. on Risman Plaza during the Stompin’ the Stage: Step Show sponsored by Kent-NAACP. The evening will climax with a performance by the Cleveland Cavaliers Scream Team at 6 p.m. on Risman Plaza. The Scream Team is a high-energy dance team that performs during Cavs games.

Programming ends with an outdoor showing of Disney’s “Up!” at 11 p.m. on Risman Plaza. The screening is part of Late Night Reels.
