After the men took first place and the women finished in the top three at the Tommy Evans’ Invitational to start the season, the Kent State cross country team had big expectations to fulfill in the second meet, which they did.

The Flashes’ second meet at the Iona Invitational in the Bronx featured a first place finish for the men and a fourth place finish by the women.

The Flashes overcame hilly terrain and a crowded field to secure a strong finish in a critical early meet of the season.

Kent State cross country coach Mark Croghan was proud of both teams

“We went into the race with a plan and things we wanted to accomplish,” Croghan said. “We executed those plans brilliantly.”

The cross country team competes next at The Ohio Invitational in Athens next Saturday.
