Daily Kent Stater’s Hump Day cheers and jeers
September 8, 2009
CHEERS TO
• The Kent State football team for winning its season opener at home against Coastal Carolina. Let’s hope they can carry the momentum forward.
• The university for introducing ThreatLine, a safe and secure way for students to report threats or suspicious activities on campus.
• Those students who have already gotten or are planning to get the flu vaccine.
JEERS TO
• The people protesting President Barack Obama’s speech to schoolchildren about education. Any message promoting education is a good message.
• The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Maine, for planning to take a special collection from parishioners to help finance an anti-gay marriage campaign.
• All the students who litter our campus and city. Leave your cigarette butts in a trash can and clean up the broken bottles on sidewalks.
