Daily Kent Stater’s Hump Day cheers and jeers
September 30, 2009
CHEERS TO
• Judy Devine, former Kent State coach and associate athletic director, who recently donated $1.2 million to the athletic department. It’s the department’s third-largest gift in history.
• The people responsible for Acorn Alley in downtown Kent, which has been a success so far.
• Kent State alumnus Ken Howard, who won an Emmy for best supporting actor for his role in the HBO movie “Grey Gardens.”
JEERS TO
• The dreary weather blanketing campus this week. We’re not ready for constant gray skies.
• Students and faculty who are not practicing healthy habits to avoid spreading germs. The hand sanitizer stations across campus exist for a reason – use them.
• University faculty and staff who make students jump through hoops to solve simple problems. Let’s hope President Lester Lefton’s “Year of Yes” initiative is successful.
