Hump Day cheers and jeers

DKS Editors

Daily Kent Stater’s Cheers to:

• Laing Kennedy, who has served as Kent State’s director of athletics for more than 15 years. He’s retiring in July after his 16th year, during which time he’s watched 85 teams win Mid-American Conference titles.

• The university for installing antibacterial dispensers across campus to help curb any future swine flu outbreaks.

• Ron Burbick, who financed and planned Acorn Alley in downtown Kent. The new shops and eateries will be great destinations for students.

Daily Kent Stater’s Jeers to:

• The Google malfunction that led to the shutdown of Gmail yesterday afternoon. We’re just happy it didn’t last longer.

• The university for taking so long to issue a FlashLine message after the on-campus robbery late Monday night. Students should be warned as soon as possible.

• Phillip Garrido, the man accused of kidnapping and holding Jaycee Dugard captive for 18 years. He deserves all penalties coming his way.
