Senior running back Eugene Jarvis will miss the rest of the 2009 football season because of a kidney injury suffered in Saturday’s loss to Boston College.

“We’ve got a development with Eugene Jarvis and (he’s) going to be out for the season,” Kent State coach Doug Martin said in a press conference today.”He’s got a kidney injury that he sustained in the game at Boston College in the first half, and that tough little rascal, I’ll tell you what, he would’ve played the whole game if I hadn’t…figured out what was going on myself.”

Jarvis, who ranks fourth in Kent State history with 3,426 career rushing yards, ran for 17 yards on 10 carries in the Flashes’ 34-7 loss to Boston College. He did not play in the second half.

Kent State coach Doug Martin said the athletic department will apply for a medical redshirt for Jarvis, which would give him a sixth year of eligibility.

“That is a slam dunk that that kid should get a sixth year,” Martin said. “And if he doesn’t then somebody’s not doing their job, or the NCAA doesn’t care about kids.”
