Students in Kent State’s College of Technology are packages of product designers, manufacturers and producers, thanks to Solid Edge Software.

The college received this software last month, part of a $13.5 million gift from Appropriate Technology.

Chuck Poultney, a student in the college, explained that prototype production begins by “students designing three- dimensional products on computers.”

He added that the rapid prototype printer prints “fragile” parts that need to be hardened.

He said through “Metal casting process, a melted metal is poured on the part to make it stronger.”

Students learning the software expect to get good positions when they graduate.

Ricardo Poultney said that the “tricky” software would enable him to work in a company seeking high revenue.
