Political science professor Gertrude “Trudy” Steuernagel died Friday, according to a Record-Courier report.

She had been hospitalized for severe head injuries after her 18-year-old son, Sky Walker, allegedly beat her. Walker was indicted prior to her death for attempted murder.

Steuernagel had been listed in critical condition at Akron City Hospital since Jan. 29.

According to the Record-Courier, Walker could face additional charges as a result of her death.
