Cast of ‘Darius Goes West’ to visit KSU for movie screening

Darius Weems, a 15-year-old teen with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and 11 of his closest friends will visit Kent State tonight for a screening of their movie, “Darius Goes West.”

The movie is a documentary of Weems and his friends’ journey to Los Angeles in hopes of convincing MTV’s hit show “Pimp My Ride” to customize Weems’ wheelchair.

Weems and his friends have been traveling across the country telling their story in hopes to raise money for research to find a cure. They will have visited Toledo and Oberlin before stopping at Kent State.

The movie screening is free and begins at 7 p.m. in Cartwright Auditorium, followed by a question-and-answer session. Tickets will be available at the door.
