Study abroad fair to showcase students’ overseas opportunities
October 20, 2008
The Office of International Affairs is hosting its annual Study Abroad Fair today on the second floor of the Student Center.
Study abroad adviser Judith Carroll said the event is not limited to students who are interested in studying abroad; there are also opportunities for students who are interested in internships and service opportunities.
The fair showcases the many Kent State study abroad programs, which include Florence, Italy; Geneva; and Leicester, England. Other programs not associated with Kent State will also be at the fair, including www.oe-studyabroad.org, which is a study abroad program to Australia, Fiji or New Zealand.
Kent State students who have traveled abroad will also be at the fair to talk about their experiences.
In addition to finding out more about studying abroad, students can also participate to win prizes. Students will be given a “passport” and travel to the different programs, collecting stamps and will later be entered into the drawing. Past prizes have included flash drives and an iPod.
There will also be snacks and live international music.
It’s a very good opportunity to talk to a representative, Carroll said, adding that it is also convenient for students to come to the Student Center.
