Associate provost candidate interviews held this week, next

The Faculty Senate Administrative Officers Committee is in the process of interviewing four candidates for the currently vacant associate provost’s position in faculty affairs.

The position was left open in August when Gayle Ormiston left Kent State to take a position as provost at Marshall University. Provost Robert Frank said at the beginning of the search process that the university hoped to have someone working in the position Nov. 1.

The committee interviewed Kent State’s Kathy Wilson on Monday, said Phyllis Vair, secretary to the provost. Wilson is associate dean for the College of Business and the only internal candidate being interviewed for the position.

Richard Helldobler from California University of Pennsylvania was interviewed yesterday, and today. The committee is interviewing Rhonda Allen from South University Online, Vair said.

An interview is scheduled with Sue Averill from Cleveland State University for Monday, Vair said. Before working at Cleveland State, Averill served for 17 years as the executive director for Kent State’s branch of the American Association for University Professors.

Tim Moerland, chair of the search committee, declined to comment until interviews were completed.
