Psychology pioneer comes to KSU to focus on voice of women
October 15, 2008
Renowned psychologist Carol Gilligan will be speaking at 4 p.m. today in the Kiva.
Gilligan has written many non-fiction works in the psychology field. Her main focus is the voice of women.
“She’s a pioneer in bringing in women’s viewpoints,” said Deborah Craig, coordinator of recruitment and scholarships for the Honors College.
Craig said she wanted to bring someone in to speak to students and faculty who was at the top of her field.
She recommended that students come to the event because it is a “good opportunity for students to see someone they wouldn’t get to otherwise.” Craig added that Gilligan’s work is groundbreaking and impacts a lot of different majors.
The event is a part of the Guest of Honor University Artist/Lecture Series, which is hosted by the Honors College.
Carol Gilligan is currently a professor at New York University.
