African American high school students march throughout downtown Jackson, Mississippi to protest the May 14-15, 1970 shootings that took place at Jackson State University. City and state police officers opened fire at student protesters outside a women’s dormitory, injuring 12 people and killing two, Phillip Gibbs and James E. Green.
