Main Street Kent has canceled this weekend’s Wine and Arts Festival due to a 60 percent chance of rain in the weather forecast, said Mary Gilbert, director of Main Street Kent.

“I am very sad to say we canceled the event,” she said. “We want to make sure it is a successful event, and having artists out in the rain isn’t a good idea.”

The group will decide on a new date for the festival within the next week, Gilbert said, adding that it will likely be rescheduled for early October.
