The Kent State volleyball team recovered from its loss to Air Force earlier today to beat North Carolina Central at the Air Force Academy tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Dispatching North Carolina Central took the Flashes (6-2) less than an hour to do. Kent State defeated the Eagles by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-14.

Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Jones contributed to the team on both offense and defense by scoring eight kills and 14 digs. Senior Ashley Feutz continued her strong showing from earlier today by racking up 12 kills and a .474 hitting percentage against North Carolina Central. Junior setter Katie Veatch made 31 assists to pace the Flashes.

Kent State coach Glen Conley said he was still disappointed in the team’s performance today despite the win.

“I’m not going to say we rebounded and did a good job there,” he said. “Hopefully we’re going to show up (tomorrow) and be a little more competitive. We’re going to have to come out and play with a little bit more fire.”

Tomorrow Kent State will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. and Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m.
