AAUP, university reach tentative agreement

The American Association of University Professors announced early this morning that it has come to a tentative agreement with the university for contract negotiations.

After rejecting an initial contract extension in April that would postpone negotiations for a year, the tenure track faculty entered into negotiations with the university to form the three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement. This agreement outlines salary raises and health benefits for faculty. The non-tenure track faculty accepted the same contract extension the tenure track rejected.

The AAUP set July 31 as its ideal date to complete negotiations. A memo from the AAUP to its members reported the two groups came to an agreement at 12:10 a.m. today.

According the memo, the AAUP will share terms of the tentative agreement with the AAUP-KSU Council at its meeting Aug. 4 at 2:30 p.m. and to the full membership at a meeting Aug. 5 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 204 of the Student Center.
