Former President Carol Cartwright was named interim president of Bowling Green by Bowling Green’s board of trustees earlier today.

Cartwright, who retired from her position in 2006, was president of Kent State for 15 years.

Teri Sharp, director of media relations at Bowling Green, said Cartwright was selected from a pool of candidates. Her term as interim president will begin July 21 and end whenever a permanent president is found.

Sharp said the university’s trustees are still discussing the formation of a search committee to find a permanent president.

She said trustees cited Cartwright’s experience in enrollment management, budgeting and her familiarity with Ohio’s public universities as her qualifications for interim president.
