RecXtreme is taking over the Student Recreation and Wellness Center Friday from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“It’s kind of like a free-for-all carnival type event,” said Jason Hawk, interim assistant director of marketing for the rec center, “where there’s just a bunch of different activities and they are all extreme-related.”

Students and guests will participate in all kinds of activities and entertainment for free.

There will be a mechanical bull, an Iron Man obstacle course, go racers, dodgeball, a life-size Wii, balloon-a-palooza and much more. RecXtreme’s most popular event last year was the laser tron arena.

“It’s this huge inflatable arena where you go inside and you play laser tag with your team,” Hawk said of the laser tron arena. “I have a good feeling that’s going to fill up quickly.”

Hawk encourages students to arrive early to make sure they get on the sign-up sheet for each activity.

Free food, such as pizza and wings, will be provided at the event.

The event is presented in part by Black Squirrel Radio, Subway and Undergraduate Student Senate.

“Last year it was the largest out of all the events we’ve ever had,” Hawk said. “We are hoping to continue that success this year.”
