College of Technology dean submits resignation

A. Raj Chowdhury, dean of the College of Technology, submitted a letter of resignation Thursday. According to the letter, his resignation will be effective June 30, upon the university’s approval.

In his letter, Chowdhury said his decision was in “in consideration of my personal and professional needs.”

Chowdhury, who has been dean since 1997, will return to his faculty position as a full-time professor on July 1, but he has requested paid administrative leave for the 2008-09 academic year. During this time, he will prepare for his transition to a full-time professor.

He will resume teaching in the 2009-10 academic year. He requests that he teach no more than two graduate-level courses.

Chowdhury declined comment. The provost could not be reached for details.
