The Kent branch of Fifth Third Bank was robbed this afternoon around 2:30 p.m., Kent Police Lieutenant Ray Stein said.

After the call came in, police dispatchers gave a description over the radio of a white male suspect approximately 6 feet tall and 200 pounds with brown hair and sunglasses, wearing a big green jacket. Police would not confirm this description on the scene.

Later, officers at the bank, located at 1597 S. Water St., photographed and measured footprints left in the snow, and a male was in custody.

Police talked to him and examined the soles of his shoes before taking him away in a cruiser.

None of the officers on the scene were willing to make a comment at this time. One unnamed bank patron said she didn’t realize what had happened until after the incident occurred.

Kent Police are scheduled to file a press release later this evening.
