Undergraduate Student Senate announced yesterday that Third Eye Blind will be putting on a concert on campus Feb. 12.

The concert, which is co-sponsored by the All Campus Programming Board and USS, will be held in the M.A.C. Center at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Monday and are $10 for students and $20 for general admission.

“It’s going to be a huge success,” said John Wetmore, senator for governmental affairs.

The concert will coincide with the first day of campaigning for the new Undergraduate Student Government. The group hopes the concert will generate publicity for the newly reformed governing body and that candidates will use the event to campaign for their desired positions, said Michael Hammond, senator for research and development.

Wetmore said he originally began working in October to bring a big-name speaker to campus but opted to bring a band instead.

“It seemed too expensive,” Wetmore said. “And there were scheduling conflicts that were hard to meet. I thought: If we can’t get a great speaker, then why not get a great band.”
