Public relations experts to speak tonight

Public Relations Student Society of America is hosting its fourth annual Networking Event from 6 to 8 tonight in Room 110 Franklin Hall.

The event is free and open to all public relations majors.

Fifteen public relations professionals from the Akron and Cleveland areas will advise students how to finish their college careers and begin their professional careers successfully.

Topics of discussion will include how to make a good first impression at an interview and tips on how to create a good résumé and cover letter.

Students will also learn about what to expect in their first year on the job, ethics and laws of public relations, social media and getting involved with professional organizations after graduation.

Olivia Mihalic, vice president of the Kent State chapter of PRSSA, said this event is different than the weekly meetings.

“The professionals usually address the group as a whole,” Mihalic said. “But this event gives the students more one-on-one interactions with professionals. It’s a more personal event.”

Casual business attire is suggested. Refreshments will be served.
