The court case for Kent State basketball players Jamilah Humes and ChyTearra Kintchen has been dismissed for purposes of review.

Municipal courts do not have final say in felony cases, Judge John Plough said, and a grand jury could still choose to hear the case in a common pleas court.

“The state of Ohio has asked the court to dismiss this case for purposes of review,” prosecuting attorney Fran Riccardi said, “but the investigation is ongoing.”

Further decisions will be made based on all pertinent information, he said.

Humes and Kintchen declined to comment.
