America’s favorite fast-food treat is now over the hill

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear … Big Mac?

That’s right – the beloved, double-decker burger with the special sauce just turned 40. Weighing in at nearly half a pound, the burger has established quite the fan base during its years on McDonald’s menus.

“I love McDonald’s,” said Brandon Miles, a sophomore marketing major and Big Mac fan. He said the Big Mac is one of his favorite sandwiches.

“I probably eat there three times a week,” he said. “When I was in France, I ate McDonald’s every day.”

“I eat there maybe once a month,” said Megan Knotts, sophomore hospitality management major. “I would love it more if it were healthier.”

Now in its 40th year, the Big Mac has grown in popularity as well as price.
