Basketball floor seats change

In May, the athletic department announced it will implement a donor-based seating program for the men’s basketball season.

The program applies only to the chair-backed seats on the floor of the M.A.C. Center, which are normally for season ticket holders.

Laing Kennedy, director of athletics, said for season ticket holders to retain their seats, they must donate a minimum of $500 to the Blue and Gold Athletic Fund, on top of buying season tickets. Those who participate are ensured two chair-backed seats at every home game.

The Blue and Gold Athletic Fund provides scholarships to student athletes. Those who donate to the fund can choose which athletic team their money goes to.

The cost of a chair-backed season ticket is $247 per seat for the public and $221 for any student, faculty or staff member.

Other seats are available for current season ticket holders who choose not to make the donation.

The athletic department is holding an open forum July 11 at 7 p.m. at the M.A.C. Center for those who would like more information about the program.
