A Kent State student was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday.

Leah Karp, 20, junior integrated health studies major from Dayton, was going to visit her aunt when her black Ford Escort was hit head-on while traveling northbound on state Route 57, according to the Montville Police.

Police said another black Ford Escort, driven by Brandon Boles, 22, of Medina, was attempting to pass another car in a no-pass zone when he hit Karp’s vehicle.

According to the police, the accident took place at the crest of a hill, and Karp had no time to react before Boles’s car hit hers.

Police said both victims were taken to Medina General Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Boles was driving with a suspended license, and police said alcohol consumption by him may have been a contributing factor.
