PRIDE!Kent to hold elections tonight

An open election will be held to fill empty board member seats during tonight’s PRIDE!Kent meeting.

Last week, all six board members stepped down, allowing anyone to run for a position.

Amanda Boyd, who is the former president of PRIDE!Kent, said she stepped down in an attempt to be neutral in recent conflicts between members of PRIDE!Kent and members of the Queer Liberation Front.

In a recent Daily Kent Stater article, last year’s PRIDE!Kent President Chris Taylor said, “We need to move on. We have two months left, and we can do a lot in that time.”

So far, the candidates have faced limited competition.

Kevin Casimer is running for president, Carrie Wicks for vice president, Cassie McClelland for treasurer, Colleen Eltibi and Amy Lennon for secretary, Michelle Lang for allies chair and Boyd for programming director.

Others who wish to run should contact Boyd or Taylor before tonight’s meeting, or they can come to the meeting ready to give a statement.

The meeting starts at 8 p.m. in the Governance Chambers on the second floor of the Student Center.
