Two KSU faculty members to receive Distinguished Women Awards at luncheon

The Professional Women of Kent State University will honor two women at its 25th annual “Spring Fling” luncheon.

The celebration will be held at noon April 5 in Room 306 of the Student Center. It is the 10th year that the group has recognized distinguished women on campus.

The Distinguished Women Awards will be presented to Nawal Ammar, justice and women’s studies professor, and Carol Toncar, director of Sponsored Programs, said Michelle Casto, co-president of Professional Women of Kent State University.

To register, contact Casto at (330) 672-8476. The $16 payment and reservation form needs to be mailed by March 30 to Michelle Casto, Parking Services, 123 Michael Schwartz Center. Participants will have a choice of a grilled chicken salad or a vegetarian salad entr‚e.

The mission of the Professional Women of Kent State University is to increase networking opportunities for women across campus, Casto said. She said they also are hoping to increase their Carol A. Cartwright scholarship fund, which is awarded to a non-traditional student every fall.

Raffle tickets for gift baskets will be available at the event. Proceeds will go toward the scholarship fund.
