Katie Hale beat current Senator for Academic Affairs Preston Mitchum for executive director, the highest position in Kent State’s Undergraduate Student Senate.

Hale’s I.O.U. – “Improving Our University” – ticket swept the election.

In addition, the referendum concerning the USS charter passed by a margin of 67 votes.

The charter changes will expand the current USS and reorganize the All Campus Programming Board to fall within the boundaries of the new Undergraduate Student Government to take effect in the 2008-2009 academic year. Now, the charter changes must be approved by the Board of Trustees.

The following candidates won the 2007 USS election:

  • Executive Director: Katie Hale
  • Academic Affairs: Kali Price
  • Business and Finance: Andrew Ljubi
  • Community Affairs: Jonathan Bey
  • Governmental Affairs: John Wetmore
  • Research and Development: Michael Hammond
  • Student Advancement: Megan Lynn
  • Student Relations: Elizabeth Eckels
  • University Affairs: Nikole Keslar (Keslar told the Daily Kent Stater yesterday that she had withdrawn from the election due to personal family reasons.)
