Finance senator leads Allocation Committee

Sean Groves, business and finance senator of the Undergraduate Student Senate, is responsible for managing more than $200,000 as the chair of the Allocation Committee.

Groves said the majority of his work as the business and finance senator revolves around the Allocation Committee – meeting with student organizations, reviewing allocation request forms, budgeting and planning and carrying out meetings.

Groves said the first task in the spring is to begin forming next year’s Allocation Committee by participating in the Selections Committee. After the committee is created, the next step is coordinating training sessions for the new members in preparation for the two Allocation Committee meetings during the summer.

Once classes begin, Groves said the business and finance senator’s working hours multiply – upwards of 20 hours per week- because the bulk of allocation requests are made in the fall by student organizations.

Groves said the Allocation Committee impacts the entertainment options on campus for students as a result of the programming.
