Bowling Green wins; Miami, Toledo lose

Members of the Mid-American Conference were busy over the weekend in NCAA Tournament play. Women’s MAC Champion Bowling Green handled a bit of a test, defeating No. 10 Oklahoma State, 70-66.

Behind Ali Mann’s 16 points and 13 rebounds, the No. 7 seed Falcons advanced to the second round and will meet No. 2 seed Vanderbilt Tuesday at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich.

The men’s MAC-tournament champion, the Miami RedHawks, narrowly missed pulling off an upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to No. 3 seed Oregon, 58-56, Friday Afternoon.

After winning the MAC Tournament on a last-second 3-pointer by Doug Penno, the RedHawks hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer against Oregon, but this time, Michael Bramos’s 3-pointer from half-court was only enough to pull Miami within two.

MAC regular-season champion Toledo was ousted in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament by Florida State, 77-61, March 13.
