Kent State wrestler Danny Mitcheff was named Mid-American Conference wrestler of the week after winning both of his dual matches last weekend.

In Friday’s match, Mitcheff defeated Northern Illinois junior Gralan Early in a 10-7 decision. Mitcheff carried his winning effort into Sunday’s dual meet with Pittsburgh where he was victorious in three overtimes over redshirt junior All-American Drew Headlee.

The 133-pounder is the third Kent State wrestler to earn Wrestler of the Week honors this season. Senior Jason McGee and sophomore Jermail Porter both won the award earlier in the season.

With this week off, the Flashes will travel to Buffalo Feb. 9 for a dual meet.
