Environmental council dinner to focus on global warming

Students figuring out what to do for dinner tonight can stop by the Kent Environmental Council’s annual potluck dinner, although they should probably leave the disposable silverware at home.

The dinner, beginning at 6 p.m., will be followed by a presentation of the slide show featured in Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

“It’s a very timely issue,” council member Caroline Arnold said.

The grassroots organization investigates local, national and international environmental concerns, Arnold said. This meeting will address how local educators and students view global warming and what can be done locally to raise awareness. In the past, the Kent Environmental Council has worked on the water restoration and city recycling programs.

Tonight’s dinner and meeting will be held at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 1456 E. Summit St.
